I dearly loved Target, particularly loved the lack of muzac. Life under florescent bulbs is unpleasant enough, no need to add loud music to the overwhelming mix. As Target got bigger and more homogenized, they also starting getting too costly. The only reason I haven't divorced Target all together is my beloved John-the-Pharmacist, who is partnering with me in my more holistic approach to my health concerns. My heart is broken, I'm a gentle being. So I will be treated in a kindler, gentler way....or I will walk away. John is an angel, I feel like I am visiting a friend when I go to Target's pharmacy. Sometimes I wonder why I see doctors at all. He's kinder and respectful of my taking charge of my care.
Oh well, this is not a post about Target. But rather Big Lots. Honestly, I don't know why people shop at Target any more. And as you know, I was a die hard Target fan. I believe in the mission of Michael Graves, Isaac Mizrahi and others who think that good design should be available for the masses. Indeed, everyone needs beauty, the same way they need air.
Please remember these are only my humble opinions at this point in time. Not to be taken seriously, each of us must make up our own minds. But for me, on this day, I can fulfill my need for beauty with the following: Big Lots, Dollar General, Family Dollar, and for a special treat - TJ Maxx - at a fraction of the cost of Target. In my home Form not only follows Function, but: Form Equals Function. Meaning it is not enough for a piece to be merely beautiful - It must serve a purpose as well. The reverse is also true. It is not enough for a piece to meet a needed function - It must be beautiful.
I stood there in chills for a moment. That's what it's been like ever since I had the reaction to anesthetic on August 12. It's a gift and a curse. I love have a relationship with God, indeed the Conversations with God trilogy by Neale Donald Walsch are my favorite books ever! But sometimes I can't turn it off and need to rest.
Love this one too. Mass produced, but doesn't look it. Looks like a photo. Perfect for a home seeking more serenity. Da hood needs beauty too.
oh boy, they even got stuff to feed my various obsessions, which I tried to pretend I didn't see. Blank vinyl toys to paint, and beautiful yarn. I'm always so envious of how well Casapinka knits. I used to crochet, and have been wanting to pick it up again. But who am I kidding? I know me. I won't. I'd have baskets of gorgeous yarn and it would go to waste. Also a waste of money. Not burdening myself with projects that I know I won't complete. I have enough obsessions. Don't need more.
Have a great long weekend my loves, if you are bored or lonely, check me out here or on Facebook. I'm home bound for the weekend (it's okay - it's too hot out anyway). I will answer all prayer requests. Enjoy your weekend! Be safe. xo
